Art for every pocket
A small gallery on North Street full of intriguing and beautiful art and objects by creatives from Norfolk and further afield, with the art room for supplies just behind.
In the gallery
Individual makers, small independent designers
We specialise in supporting individual makers and small independent design businesses. You are as likely to find a 19th‑century watercolour as a piece of contemporary ceramic, or hand-crafted reclaimed silver jewellery made in the next village.
Work by Royal Academicians and the Norwich School hangs alongside contemporary Norfolk painters, with book illustrations, etchings and linocuts, small sculptures, glass and ceramics.
Pictures
Paintings, drawings and prints, framed and unframed.
Objects
Small sculptures, glass, ceramics and jewellery.
Cards & wrap
A huge selection of greetings cards and wrapping paper.
About the artmonger
As easy as the ironmonger
Laura Pocock opened the gallery on 23 April 2011, in the front room of a traditional old Norfolk cottage just off the Market Place. It began selling only paintings and drawings, and has grown to include cards and wrapping paper, stationery and art materials.
Laura spent ten years with the watercolour and drawings dealer Abbott and Holder, and a few years at Christie’s. She also trained in graphic design and illustration at Norwich School of Art.
“Art should not be elitist or considered just a luxury, it is an essential. You should feel as comfortable shopping here as you would at the ironmonger or the fishmonger!”
Behind the gallery
The art room
A small but comprehensive range of art supplies: paints, pastels, pens, pencils, brushes, canvases, sketchbooks and a lot more.
